This conformation title was introduced 1st January 1998, to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of show dogs.  For the Grand Champion title

1000 challenge points are required, 10 times more than for a Champion title.

 There are 22 Hungarian Vizsla Grand Champions in Australia.

Australian Point System (from 1st January 2000) - Dogs over the age of six months, both champions and non-champions compete for points. Challenge points are awarded according to the number of dogs present in the same sex, eg if there is only one dog present, it receives 6 points, if a total of 4 dogs are competing, the winner receives 9 points (1 point for each dog defeated). The winner dog & bitch then compete for the Best Of Breed and the overall winner receives points for each exhibit, eg if there are 4 dogs and 4 bitches at the show the BOB winner would get 13 points. This score replaces the Challenge points. The opposite sex's Challenge points remain unchanged. The Best Of Breed winner then competes against the other gundogs for the Best in Group, which is worth 25 points, the maximum awarded at any show. The Best In Group winner then competes for Best In Show, no additional points for this award.

Prior to 31st December 1999, Challenge points were awarded only for the same sex section. No extra points were awarded for Best Of Breed.

Champion title (from 1st January 2000) - 100 Challenge points required, of which 25 points must be gained after the age of 12 months.

Prior to 31st December 1999, - there was no age requirement and a Champion title could be achieved with the 100 points gained, even at 6 1/2 months of age.

"Sam" gained his Grand Ch title in fine style at nearly 8 years of age. Prior to the announcement of the Grand Ch title, "Sam" along with our other males was exhibited only at major shows & Royals and despite this, he still amassed close to a 1000 points. He won his first Royal BOB at the age of 2, and was still achieving big wins at 7 years of age. In 1997 he won 5 Royal CC's including a Best In Group in Canberra Royal. A fantastic hunter. His superb free flowing movement and gentle manners won many hearts.

He was a stunning youngster winning his first BIG (All Breeds) and his first Royal BOB at 7 months! "Charlie" was a real showman, just loved the ring! He was shown until 8 1/2 years of age. It is difficult to have your top bitches in the show ring as well as trying to breed/keep a progeny from them. "Holly" had three litters prior to becoming Grand Champion but she looked as though she had never had any. She retired from the show ring in grand style, after winning BOB at Melbourne Royal in 2000 under Mrs F. McKenzie (Canada). She is a Best In Show –Specialty and Royal Best In Group winner. She had two litters prior to gaining the Grand Champion title and in spite of that, her figure was as if she had never had them. Her outstanding qualities and correct movement have been recognised by both international and local judges. "Sophie" is the breeds Record holding Bitch in Australia with 18 Royal CC's and 17 Royal BOB & R/U BOB.
