These are the most prestigious & biggest shows in the country with entries of up to 6000 dogs. They are held in each State of Australia generally once a year.
Their history goes back more than 182 years and they were granted permission to use the prefix "Royal" by the Queen. The aim of the show is "furthering the quality by means of contests and competitions". The Royal Agricultural Societies appoint specialist judges, mostly from overseas and the committee does not exhibit. The trophies and prizes are well worth entering for. The show can last up to two weeks with different breeds judged on various days. It is a great opportunity for the public to see the various breeds close up and talk to the owners/breeders. The high standard and fair competition is reflected in the measures that have been introduced. For example in the past few years Drug Testing has been performed on random exhibits. In 2002 the winning Hungarian Vizslas were selected. Our BOB winner was drug tested, and proved to be negative. |

In 1974 the first Hungarian Vizsla, Galfrid Fecske (Imp UK), entered the Sydney Royal Show as the only exhibit, winning Bitch CC & Best Of Breed. The breed has come a long long way since, as nowadays it is not surprising to see well over 80 Hungarian Vizslas exhibited at Royal Shows.
On our "Royal pages" you can find the breeds history at Royals, a record of all the Royal Show Results, the In Group/In Show wins of Hungarian Vizslas and a summary of the winnings of individual dogs. Enjoy!
